24/49: Compassion in Endurance

Luke 6:9-10 KJV  Then said Jesus unto them, “I will ask you (the religious leaders in the room) one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?”  (10)  And looking round about upon them all, He said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Mercy that goes the distance is drawn from it purpose: the need to help others instead of the fear of not pleasing others.

If you’re wanting to measure how far your grace goes for yourself and others, ask questions like: Am I silent when I should be speaking? Am I talking when I should be listening? Do I allow others to think for themselves? Do I let others think for me too much?

Today: Try and remember a time when you stayed silent when you should have stood up. What stopped you?  Now, try and remember a time when you publicly defended someone, or stood up for their behalf. What provoked you?
