Psalms 72:12-14 (TPT): He (Jesus) will care for the needy and neglected when they cry to Him for help. The humble and helpless will know His kindness, for with a father’s compassion He will save their souls. They will be rescued from tyranny and torture, for their lifeblood is precious in His eyes.
If humility positions our attitudes and gratitudes, then compassion elevates the real purpose for this character: to help others heal.
When emotionally hurting, helping another person has the power to transform self-defeating thoughts into healthy reviving ambitions.
Sometimes this character will specifically help you when having to make hard decisions like walking away from something that hurts you more than you can help it. It is not selfish to ensure your safety or your spiritual, mental and physical well being.
To measure the compassion in your humility, ask yourself things like: Do I allow myself to be helped? Do I ask for help too much? Is my compassion positioned to help, or do I prevent that flow?
Today – take the time to help yourself today by helping others. Don’t wait to be asked.
