Learning to work with ‘Hank’

A few more days and we leave Egypt. Worth noting: no matter how new a place, the same ol’ people live there too. New faces, same personality.

Do you remember asking ‘why’ a few days ago? Well, this is a good spot to insert that particular question. So….why are people generally alike in some respect? Culture would be the largest portion of that answer followed by experience. We can honestly view the Passover story with that in mind.

In the Egyptian culture, during the days of Moses, it was common for the Egyptians to abuse the Hebrews. It was actually excepted and expected.

For roughly 300 years (the USA is only 60ish years away from being 300 years old) the teachings of Joseph, the dreamer, and the understanding of Yahweh were lost during the different transitions of the pharaohs throughout their history. There were no temples or synagogues. Until Moses saw the burning bush even he did not know or understand Yahweh. Remember, he was raised Egyptian and had been withheld from the truth of who God was and programmed to worship people and things trying to replace God. But, when God spoke he would never be the same.

It was not until Moses led the captives out of Egypt many years later that he learned how to work with all personalities. If you know his story then you know it was a severe personality conflict that made him run away decades before he returned to fulfill God’s commission.

Though he would slip up once in his anger with people during the exile, Moses remained true to everything God taught him. He remains one of the greatest examples of leadership and discipleship in the Holy Bible.

Today, Identical to Moses, Jesus bridges the gaps in spiritual refinement by providing expounded enlightenment through The Gospels, tackling character issues and providing the real definitions of Godly behavior.

The original 10 laws did not fail, only the definitions had become distorted by hypocrisy. Radically, Jesus upped the standards and proved God was and will always be The LORD who cannot be defined by human definitions.

Nothing has changed. There are still the same ol’ people every place you go. Therefore we mimic Jesus and do what He says with purpose and truth.

Mat 10:16  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

And to answer the why question:

1Sa 12:22  For the LORD will not forsake His people for His great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you His people.

With that being said… today’s video is Emery discussing Hank. Culture plays a huge role in her response. And even more importantly, my teaching her God’s ways plays a huge role in how she will handle Hank if they do meet up again.

There are two videos; one introducing Hank, the other is her solution to a possible encounter.

Warm regards and Shalom -W
